Blogged it!

it's done.

I have 'talked' about creating a blog for the last 12 months and although I've really really wanted to do one, I'm also the queen of Procrastination. Not the best trait to boast about but hey no ones perfect! So I've wanted to start a blog for a few reasons...

1. Journal/Record Keeping
The old handwritten Journal thing is just not working out for me these days. In my younger years I used to keep a journal I had three (I know that's not alot considering my age!) but currently have only kept two. When I have looked back on those journals my glorious teenage years, I have enjoyed reminiscing and oft read of times and experiences I had forgotten about. So much happens and it's just impossible to remember everything.

I went to start a new journal last year and to my surprise I realised how time consuming it was. Forgot how long it took to write a couple of paragraphs and moreso how sore my hand was half way down the page! After all it's the year 2012 who hand writes anything more then a shopping list these days? Even then Jim writes his list in his mobile phone?!

2. My Children. The sweet little precious beings! (at least whilst sleeping) My oldest son Taumei is now FIVE years old! Where has the past 5 years gone? Feels like it was just last month I was taking him to kinder 2 weeks after his third birthday! Two days ago I dropped him off for his first day of school (there definitely will be an entry for that). My youngest babe another son was born last year in November, 7 weeks premature. He is thriving and very much our big little man.
Not forgetting my animated little twelve I mean two year old princess who never ceases to add humour, drama, tantrums, and cheekiness to my day.

I realised I was 'Facebooking' all the little funny things they would say or do, but who knows how long FB will be around, I mean it was Bebo before that.

I want to record their little escapades in the one place and post pictures too. Some place where I can be reminded of their young lives quickly passing us by!

3. I like writing. I enjoyed writing when I was younger but as mentioned before not so great at it these days. I find I express myself better on paper (or screen) as opposed to saying it out loud.
I'm not an eloquent writer like my sister Irra who also has a blog many more things make We. :) I love reading her blogs, she has a special talent in the use of words. she doesn't do enough entries (I think) but she does have four gorgeous babes of her own to keep her busy! She's abit of a poet and as in person and personality she writes beyond her years. I'll write more about my siblings in another post.

4. Fellow Bloggers. I have followed a few awesome bloggers. I've read some blogs that are fun, interesting and inspirational. Others I have followed as a means to keep up to date with what's going on in lives of friends residing abroad!  I have to mention one blog in particular 'Taispot'. I don't really know Leona that well, I know her sister Kym better as she was in our ward (church) for a couple of years maybe more. I find Leonas' blogs very entertaining, humorous and just a good read about a family just doing their thing and living their life. I also think she's a wonderful photographer and enjoy looking at her capture precious moments in her life.

Recently I've been really inspired by a friend of Leona and Kyms, Lisa King. Lisa has been through some tough trials lately losing her 10 year old boy Noah about 4 months ago and most recently suddenly losing her sweetheart Aaron on Australia day last month. Lisas' family record The Kings is AMAZING! She has recorded family events through her writing and thousands of pictures (also another photographer).
Myself along with many others have read about her story through her blogs. How precious those blogs will be as she continues life with her three young sons, not only for herself but for her boys as they grow older, they will be able to look back and appreciate the time and effort their mother has taken to record special memories and moments they have shared with their brother and father.

simple works of progress.

SO now I start my own blog. I can't promise that it will be eloquently written, inspirational, interesting, entertaining or even funny but I do know that it will be a record I keep for myself, filled with memories and moments I want my children to look back on. I usually write, how I speak, don't know if that's a good or bad thing. But I speak ALOT. haha probably too much esp when I was in school. So one thing is for sure, is that there's a 99.9% chance that my blogs won't be short! In fact quite the opposite.

The title of my blog is inspired I guess from the thought that 'we are all a work in progress.' I love the word 'progress'. It's what I believe I'm here on earth to do and in turn help my own little family progress.

I have a simple life. Just the way I like it. My husband Jim and I have been blessed with 3 healthy beautiful babes. We both come from great families. (will write more on them later!)

I hope to record a Hogben family legacy, as our children progress through their childhood years and beyond, my own progress as a wife, mother in my family and a woman in todays society.
As my husband and I both go through all the good and hard times that life will inevitably throw at us. I hope that by keeping such a record we will be able to reflect and see all the works this Hogben family has seen, done and been apart of in years to come and prominently enjoy the Progress we have all made together and individually!

*Now I've also noticed of late thanks to Nelia (the baby sister) that my grammar is horrible! I used to be the person who couldn't help myself but would correct peoples spelling and punctuation etc, these days though I find myself being corrected by the grammar police (Nelia) who is always the first to jump on it. So I will apologise in advance for the grammatical errors but like I said in the beginning no ones perfect!!

** Hopefully by the next post I would've got my act together and loaded some pictures off the camera to post!
